Relax! You're In Good Hands at In Touch Massage & Day Spa

The In Touch Massage & Day Spa at The Bay Club in Thousand Oaks is considered unique for its experienced therapists and technicians who provide a range of services, from the classic European facial to a 60-minute signature massage.

“One of the key things that make us stand apart is that we make a conscious effort to recruit highly experienced therapists and technicians who have years of background,” says Asia Powell, the spa’s owner and manager.

“That helps us build the kind of relationships we want with clients,” Powell says. “We want it to be more than just a one-time visit. Especially being here at The Bay Club, where people are working to improve themselves, we just consider ourselves a partner in that effort.”

The In Touch Massage & Day Spa is located inside The Bay Club, where nonmembers are welcome to use club amenities, including a steam room and sauna, indoor heated pool, fitness classes and locker rooms, on the day of their appointment.

“We welcome and appreciate clients who are not members of The Bay Club—they are free to use any of the facilities here,” Powell says. “They can take a class, swim in the pool and enjoy lunch at our Pure Energy Café.”

M(ahhh!)ssage

The massage menu features a range of offerings, including couples massage, hot stone massage, prenatal massage and foot reflexology. Guests can also add enhancements to any massage, such as aromatherapy.

“Our most popular massage service is our 60-minute therapeutic massage,” Powell says. “It’s so popular because our therapist customizes the massage so a client doesn’t have to make a choice between deep tissue or Swedish or any other modality,” she explains. “The therapist consults with them and gives them a massage that brings all the techniques that are needed to meet the needs of that client on that particular day.”

Facials

When it comes to skincare, the spa offers its signature In Touch Facial, customized for each client using the Dermalogica product line. Additional skincare services include the Eminence Facial, using certified organic products; the Clear Skin Facial, entailing deep pore cleansing and acne clearing; and the Microcurrent Facial, utilizing a low-level current that enables facial contouring, toning and firming of aging skin. Microdermabrasion and glycolic and enzyme peels are also available.

“Our 60-minute facial is the most popular skincare service,” Powell says. “It’s similar to the standard European facial, however, we also consult with the client to provide a customized experience so no one facial is the same.”

An exciting new service is the Oxygen Infusion Facial.

“This is a great service that a lot of folks call the ‘Red Carpet Facial,’” Powell says. “It uses oxygen to help the serums penetrate into the skin and it leaves the skin glowing, improves the appearances of wrinkles and helps with skin toning. And it’s something we’re really proud of because we’re able to offer that to clients at a rate you can’t find anywhere else.”

Cupping

Cupping therapy is another of the spa’s latest offerings.

“Cupping is an ancient Asian therapy that’s sort of an offshoot of massage—it uses suction to invigorate the muscles,” Powell explains. “We consider it to be a supplement to massage, and some people call it a form of deep tissue massage. It’s known to improve the immune system, and it’s been said that it improves cellulite.”

Valentine’s Day Specials

In celebration of Valentine’s Day, special gift promotions include the “Insparation” package for $89, which includes a 60-minute massage and lunch at the Pure Energy Café; and the “Spaliday” package for $185, complete with a 60-minute massage, In Touch Facial and Salt Glow.

A portion of every gift package sold will benefit the Assistance League of Conejo Valley, a nonprofit that assists families, seniors and children in the Conejo Valley through philanthropic programs.

Says longtime client Geraldine Otero, “I like the personalized feel of the spa. The therapists are friendly and very knowledgeable. I also like the access that I have to the Bay Club facilities,” she adds.

“I can take a class, then shower and have a massage,” agrees four-year spa patron Jacqui Whitney. “It’s a perfect combination.”
