Being Selfless 2

The first rule to being selfless is loving what you bring into this world, and as the saying goes, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” I would like to express my gratitude for all the volunteers out there that donate countless hours to causes by voicing their opinions, lending a helping hand or even contributing monetary donations. As Mother Nature continues to show all of us this year, we are so vulnerable to the environments around us, and as much as we like to think we are in control, we are not. These days, simply waking up in a home with a roof over your head seems like a blessing.

Every day is a blessing and life is so precious, yet we must always remember that in a split second it can all be taken away from us. By knowing this, do we act any differently? Do we treat our friends or family any differently? Let’s all take a moment to be grateful and give thanks for every blessing we have received in our lives. There are books and seminars that talk about the importance of learning to be mindful. Mindfulness is a reminder to leave an impression on the people around you. Whether you go to bed counting your blessings or wake up creating a list of gratitude, take a moment to be thankful for everything and everyone that sweetens your life.

Remember to take notice of the simple pleasures in your life. Be grateful for the people that have miraculously shown up in your life when you needed them the most. Even when we might be going through our hardest moments in this journey called life, pause for a moment and remember that someone less fortunate than us is going through a harder time at that exact moment. We all need to create a strategy to embrace our outcomes by knowing that these journeys were meant for us and that we will grow stronger by getting through them—perhaps with a
little help from our friends.
