Local foodies are clinking glasses in celebration of Farm & Flame’s recent partnership with Westlake Brewing & Libations.
“It’s a marriage made in Heaven!” declares brewery owner, Larry Moisan, who says guests are thrilled with Farm & Flame’s delicious dishes, served daily from 3 to 10 p.m.
“We are now a restaurant!” exclaims Farm & Flame’s Executive Chef and Co-Owner Heather Worrell, who started the company with sister Sunni and brother-in-law Daniel Duncan as a gourmet barbecue food truck before expanding.
The business also includes Chef Phillip Hay, serving favorite family recipes with a twist to create unique, mouthwatering appetizers and entrees. Embracing Farm & Flame’s philosophy that “the food business isn’t a job, it’s a lifestyle,” the chefs take pride in cooking sustainably-sourced unforgettable fare.
“We make our food from scratch, using the freshest local ingredients we can find,” says Heather, who makes weekly trips to farmer’s markets and local farms to find the best ingredients.
“We’re lucky to have such a great selection of fresh local veggies available,” adds Heather, a Texas native who learned her family’s generations-old secrets to great BBQ from her father. They also source sustainably produced meats from local farms, including Mary’s Free-Range Chicken and Autonomy Meats in Ojai.
“I’ve learned so much about the importance of eating sustainably from Florencia Ramirez, author of Eat Less Water,” says Heather, noting the impact food choices have on preserving natural resources. “We care deeply about the quality of ingredients we use,” she adds.
Menu items include Baby Back Ribs, smoked over oak for 8 hours; Wagyu Tri Tip Sliders, marinated with fig balsamic and smoked, with pepper jack cheese, horseradish aioli, caramelized onions, bacon, fig jam and baby kale; Pretzels with Beer Cheese, and much more.
Farm & Flame encourages readers to taste for themselves how quality ingredients cooked with care result in fabulous fare that’ll keep them coming back. Mention this article for 10% off during Wednesdays in April.
