Casa Pacifica’s 5th Annual Yummie Top Chef Dinner featured some of the area’s top chefs presenting a delicious seven-course meal to some 250 lucky guests. Sheriff Geoff Dean emceed the dinner, kicking off the festivities for the 25th Anniversary Casa Pacifica Angels Wine, Food & Brew Festival that took place last month.

The Night of Shimmer & Jazz spotlighted local culinary master chefs, including the 2017 Yummie Culinary Competition Savory winners: Chef Alex Castillo of Twenty88, Chef Ernest Romero of J Wolf Catering & BBQ and Chef Sandra Cordero of Gasolina. Past winners Chef Nic Manocchio of University Auxiliary Services at CSUCI, Chef Bernardo Rodriguez of Ojai Beverage Company, Chef Oscar Ledesma of The Little Door and Chef Jason Collis of Plated Events rounded out the impressive lineup.

Divine Food & Wine

A trio of delicious desserts was provided by former Yummie Culinary Competition Sweet category 3rd place winner Chef Ali Davis, owner of Sugar Lab Bake Shop, joined by previous winner Chef Alex Montoya of The Cave and Chef Anastashia Chavez of 2686 Kitchen.

Each course was paired with local winemakers’ best selections, including Magnavino Cellars, Opolo Vineyards, Cantara Cellars, Goldschmidt Vineyards and The Cave. Topa Topa Brewing Co.’s Chief Peak IPA, the winning handcrafted ale, was also served during the cocktail hour.

Proceeds from the Yummie Top Chef Dinner support Casa Pacifica’s vital programs and services for vulnerable children, youth and their families.
