Meadowlark Service League presents the 32nd annual Taste of Camarillo, Sunday, July 28, from 1-4 p.m. at Camarillo Ranch (201 Camarillo Ranch Road) in Camarillo. One of three major MSL fundraising events each year, A Taste of Camarillo helps support area nonprofit organizations.

The event kicks off with a Wine Auction Gala on Saturday, July 27, from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. The California Dreamin’ themed event includes a live auction, dinner and entertainment, food and wine. The longest running brew festival on Sunday features over 100 fine wines and samples from 50 of the area’s finest restaurants, music and dancing. TasteOfCamarillo.com

Celebrate the 4th!

The local communities celebrate the 4th of July with a myriad of activities scheduled throughout the day. In Westlake Village and Thousand Oaks, community pancake breakfasts kick off the day, followed by a parade and party in Westlake at Berniece Bennett Park. The Senior Home Run Derby at Borchard Community Center, 8:30-10:30 a.m., is open to men and women 16+ and men’s masters 40+. How many home runs can you hit? Free Family Open Swims, noon to 4 p.m. take place at the CLU Community Pool and Newbury Park High School. At 5 p.m., contemporary country band, Gold Rush Country, performs at the Conejo Community Park, followed by the Fireworks Spectacular, coordinated by the Conejo Recreation and Park District, The City of Thousand Oaks and other local sponsors, at 9 p.m. View them from the Janss Marketplace and The Oaks mall parking lots and surrounding areas! Experience the “American Riviera”

Celebrate Bastille Day at the Santa Barbara French Festival at Oak Park, 300 W. Alamar, on July 13 and 14. Enjoy great food, wine, mimosas, crepes, delicious pastries, music, dance, and the infamous Pooch Parade! For two days Santa Barbara truly is the American Riviera as the French influences take over Oak Park. The fun starts at 11 a.m. with entertainment on three stages and continues nonstop until 7 p.m. More than 50 booths offer everything from crepes and delicious French pastries to face painting and henna tattoos. Save the Date!

Conejo Valley’s musical fundraiser, Charity Karaoke: Sing for a Cause on August 11 at The Canyon in Agoura benefits 20 local nonprofits. Each nonprofit is represented by a karaoke singer/contestant, who sings to raise money for them. In a cross between a Charity 5K, “American Idol” and “Carpool Karaoke,” singers are awarded according to “Most Money Raised” and “Best Performance” (determined by audience text-voting).

Nonprofit contestants include Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce, Conejo Schools Foundation, Rotary Club of Conejo Valley, Kiwanis Club of Thousand Oaks, Play Conejo, Conejo Community Outreach and Hospice of the Conejo. CharityKaraoke.org
