Opportunities For Learning

Opportunities For Learning is a free public charter school for students in Grades 7-12. Established in 1999, OFL offers an innovative “blended learning model” that includes independent study, small group classes, online courses and one-on-one, single-subject tutoring. The curriculum incorporates hands-on, experiential activities, trips and cultural excursions to enhance learning and inspire students.

Working closely with core teachers, students design a customized learning plan based on their strengths, weaknesses, college and career goals, and schedule outside of school. Rather than the traditional method of working on the same material with other students at the same general pace, OFL students complete school work at their own pace, focusing on no more than two core subjects at a time. Students meet teachers at least twice weekly and attend small group classes taught by highly skilled, single-subject instructors.
