At the “Under One Roof” Human Services Center, 13 local nonprofits fulfill their missions—rent-free, thanks to Community Conscience, a nonprofit dedicated to ensuring that social services are accessible to Conejo Valley residents in need.

Community Conscience owns the 22,000-square-foot Center, located at 80 E Hillcrest Drive, and provides free office space there to local organizations, saving them approximately $250,000 annually, which they use to deliver direct services to those in need. Tenants include Conejo Free Clinic, Hospice of the Conejo, Senior Concerns and Conejo Youth Employment Service. The building also houses the County of Ventura Human Services Agency, which pays market rent.

Mardi Gras Ball

Community Conscience invites everyone to attend its 26th Annual Mardi Gras Ball, Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Hyatt Regency Westlake Village Hotel. This signature fundraising event helps Community Conscience operate and maintain the Human Services Center, allowing it to continue to provide rent-free space for local nonprofits.

“Each dollar, gift or service that you donate helps provide office space, reducing costs so that the funds nonprofits raise can go directly to those really in need,” says Don Phillipson, this year’s Mardi Gras Ball chair.

Each year, Community Conscience selects two worthy persons to reign as King and Queen of the Ball. This year’s honorees are Bob Engler and Helene Ross, both of whom have long and exemplary records of volunteerism and supporting local nonprofits. They will preside over an exciting evening, including a champagne reception, a fabulous banquet, silent and live auctions, entertainment and dancing. Let the good times roll!
