Affirmative Escrow Catches “Fish Philosophy” 2

In 2003, Affirmative Escrow Corporation embraced and incorporated the “Fish Philosophy” in its daily operation, based on the book, Fish about the world-famous Pike Place Fish Market.

Their mission statement has since incorporated this philosophy, which includes the following aspects:

·        Being present and relating to each other and our clients as human beings

·        Looking for ways to make your day

·        Being of service and taking great care of each other and our clients

·        Enjoying every minute of our day and loving our jobs

·        Having the very best quality escrow services

·        Serving not only Los Angeles & Ventura County, but the world!

Quoting from a description of the book: “Imagine a workplace where everyone chooses to bring energy, passion, and a positive attitude to the job every day. Imagine an environment in which people are truly connected to their work, to their colleagues, and to their customers.”

“This is what you can expect at Affirmative Escrow,” says Brynne DesMarteau-Ray, Escrow Operations Manager at Affirmative Escrow Corporation.

By “Choosing our Attitude” each day, we remain in control of the way we react to each other as well as to our clients, she says.

“Escrow is a high stress business and it is important to stay on track,” DesMarteau-Ray explains. “We cannot afford bad attitudes and we all have learned how much better it feels to focus on the positive and celebrate the great results.”

She highlights a quote from Stephen C. Lundin, one of the authors of Fish: “When we come to work we bring an attitude. We can bring a moody attitude and have a depressing day. We can bring a grouchy attitude and irritate our coworkers and customers. Or we can bring a sunny, playful, cheerful attitude and have a great day.”

“We care about both the escrows we are entrusted with, as well as our working environment. Happy employees create team work with awesome results,” DesMarteau-Ray emphasizes. “It matters to us that each escrow closes on time, as agreed.”

Affirmative Escrow takes tremendous pride in the process and enjoys celebrating with clients and each other as they close escrows.

“Nancy Kelley, our Escrow Officer and I bring a combined 65 years of escrow experience to the table,” DesMarteau-Ray says. “With my main focus on quality control, I continually consult with clients, agents and with my staff, advising the best way to process, proceed or handle the transactions.”

Nancy works hands-on with the staff and clients, while directing the work flow of the office.

“Our teamwork allows us to close our escrows on time,” DesMarteau-Ray says. “Affirmative is often instrumental in troubleshooting an unusual or unexpected circumstance and successfully resolving the situation. We see ourselves as an invaluable source of information and experience to the public, capable of extraordinary results.”

Affirmative Escrow concentrates on customer service and communication, utilizing state-of-the art escrow-specific software to process transactions.

“Privacy and security of client personal information are a primary focus of our process via procedures which protect the personal and financial aspects of the transaction,” DesMarteau-Ray explains. “We incorporate secured banking with layered approval procedures for additional protection.”

Parties are kept up-to-date on the status of the transaction with an automated notification system, which keeps both the client and real estate agent in the know at all times.

“Most importantly, Affirmative Escrow goes the extra mile as part of the Team,” DesMarteau-Ray says. “We pride ourselves on stepping in and troubleshooting any situation ASAP. We proactively communicate with the realtors to make sure they are aware of any items we need in a timely manner.”

Affirmative Escrow opened in May 2001. Today, they are members of the American Escrow Association, Escrow Institute of California, California Escrow Association and Ventura County Escrow Association.

“We provide a professional customer service-based transaction which receives consistent top ratings from the real estate public,” DesMarteau-Ray says. “The majority of our business is from repeat customers and we enjoy a substantial amount of business from referrals, both of which we consider the greatest compliment!”

As an Independent Escrow Company, licensed by the Department of Business Oversight, we can work with any buyer, seller or realtor in California, she adds.

“We process commercial and residential resale and refinance escrows, including bank-owned properties, corporate employee relocation, short sale and 1031 tax-deferred exchange transactions.”
